RESOLUTION

On the occasion of completion of fifty years of Sangeet Natak Akademi -- the

 National Acedemy of Music, Dance and Drama, India -- we, the members of

the IXth General Council constituting the Akademi, reaffirm our faith in the 

 objectives for which the Akademi was set up, and the guidelines given to us by

 our founders. On this day, we renew our pledge to work for the preservation

and development of India's rich and varied cultural heritage manifested in the

 performing arts, and to pursue the goals and objectives set down in the charter

of the Akademi.

We express our gratitude to the eminent artists, scholars, and cultural

institutions, and also our predecessors in the Akademi, for the contributions they

have made in realization of the Akademi's objectives.

We also place on record our appreciation of the support of the Government of

India in developing the Akademi as an autonomous body of the performing

artists of the nation.
